Dear Friends,

Bishop O’Neill has been able to work with the Anschutz Foundation to provide a matching grant of $75,000 for help with the crisis in Haiti. The accompanying letter from him will explain more of that in detail and we will participate at St. Matthew’s by gathering donations through Epiphany and forwarding them to the Diocese of Colorado so that the money donated can be counted in the match from the Anschutz Foundation. Every dollar from Episcopal congregations, up to $75,000, will be matched and sent on to the Colorado Haiti Project or Episcopal Relief and Development, both of which have strong working relationships with people in Haiti who can put the funds to use. I will tell you more about what I’ve heard from Haiti on Sunday.

Thank you all for your help and your prayers for the people in Haiti. I do know that Fr. Kesner Gracia and his family were not hurt by the earthquake, but that it was strong enough to reach Petit-trou de Nippes and cause some damage. Petit-trou will be one of the areas that people will try to get to from Port au Prince if they have any family in the area.

God's peace,
Fr. Michael+
