Thank You & Congratulations On A Successful Giving Campaign! Your Stewardship Committee wishes to express heartfelt gratitude for your outstanding commitment in support of St. Matthew’s and our mission work – we met our goal! Your pledges, given out of love and faith, add up to the $200,000.00 mark needed to fund our 2010 Ministry Plan!
This financial generosity is a resounding affirmation of your intentional stewardship toward St. Matthew’s and our ministries. As a result, we are looking to expand our stewardship program, so we all can learn to live more fully into the will of God for our church.
A primary goal this year is to find meaningful ways to invite more folks into active ministry at St. Matthew’s, building on the stewardship gifts of time, talent, as well as treasure. So stay tuned… more information will be coming your way soon!
In the meantime, thank you again for all you do, every day, with all you have, on behalf of our church and our mission. If you have any questions or need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Thank you and May the Lord’s peace be with you, Your 2010 Stewardship Team, Tom Clark, Jerry Grabowski, & Kandy Halstead

Youth News
Mark your calendars!
Mission Trip Information The Pancake Supper was a great success, although we did not raise as much money as last year, we made around $200 for the Youth Group Mission Trip this summer. That will help with some of the expenses. The support from this parish is wonderful!
This summer our youth along with other youth groups from the area will be going to Salt Lake City on a mission trip from July 9 to July 17. The cost will be $500 per person. If you were not able to purchase shares last Tuesday, we will continue to sell shares over the next few weeks for $20 per share for the Shareholders supper this summer after the trip. Thank you for supporting the St. Matthew’s Youth Group. Any questions email Jody at shoec@aol.com or Andrew at Sisahieb@yahoo.com.
Children’s Chapel Children’s Chapel is for all children preschool through 3rd grade. The children gather together to hear the gospel story. From there the children discuss and learn the meaning of the gospel; activities and crafts are often used to enhance the story. Leaders take turns each Sunday; and we welcome anyone to join us who would like to be a leader in this part of the children’s education. We also need an adult to help each Sunday. We are blessed to have a large group of children participate but the leader does need assistance. Please take a turn and join the group when they are headed to the classroom. If you would like to learn how to help or have any questions please contact: Joy Williams 303 525 6471
Buildings and GroundsWe can still use volunteers for snow removal-Colorado is known for its’ Spring snow storms!
Currently we have a variety of projects underway, including the new Youth Group room, the Thrift Store and work on the niches behind the altar, as well as the steps to the Balcomb House and painting the outside of the buildings. There is also a landscaping team being formed if you are interested in that. So, if you are wondering how you can help with any of these projects, please contact Whit Greene, 720-851-0997, greenelw@msn.com. Thanks for your help!
Grocery Cards When shopping for groceries, gas, or home & garden items please consider purchasing Grocery or Tagawa Garden cards. They are a perfect way to contribute to our church without having to spend extra money, gas and time. Here is how it works: You pay for the card, shop, use the card and the store gives St. Matthew’s a percentage of what you spend. We have King Soopers, Safeway and Tagawa cards available. You can also use King Soopers cards at their gas stations. Cards may be purchased after each service in the Parish Hall. If you would like more information, or would like to help with this ministry, please contact Whitney Tomlin at 303-841-9328, or email her at: Whitney.Tomlin@dcsdk12.org.
Coming in 2010
“What Anglicans Believe”
This is a short course on how Anglicans interpret scripture, make ethical decisions and talk about God. This course will also demystify all those theological terms such as Incarnation, Salvation, Sin, Redemption, Resurrection, Covenant, Community and Imago Dei. It really is all “Greek” to me, but fortunately I have the translation. This course is all interested persons as well as those adults who would like to be confirmed, received or reaffirmed in the Episcopal Church. The dates will be announced in the newsletter.

Readings for Sunday March 7, 2010
Exodus 3:1-15Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led his flock beyond the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of a bush; he looked, and the bush was blazing, yet it was not consumed. Then Moses said, "I must turn aside and look at this great sight, and see why the bush is not burned up." When the LORD saw that he had turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am." Then he said, "Come no closer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground." He said further, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God. Then the LORD said, "I have observed the misery of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters. Indeed, I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them from the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the country of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. The cry of the Israelites has now come to me; I have also seen how the Egyptians oppress them. So come, I will send you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt." But Moses said to God, "Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?" He said, "I will be with you; and this shall be the sign for you that it is I who sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall worship God on this mountain." But Moses said to God, "If I come to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' what shall I say to them?" God said to Moses, "I AM Who I AM." He said further, "Thus you shall say to the Israelites, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" God also said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the Israelites, 'The LORD, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you': This is my name forever, and this my title for all generations.
1 Corinthians 10:1-13I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that our ancestors were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea, and all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, and all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank from the spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ. Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them, and they were struck down in the wilderness. Now these things occurred as examples for us, so that we might not desire evil as they did. Do not become idolaters as some of them did; as it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and they rose up to play." We must not indulge in sexual immorality as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in a single day. We must not put Christ to the test, as some of them did, and were destroyed by serpents. And do not complain as some of them did, and were destroyed by the destroyer. These things happened to them to serve as an example, and they were written down to instruct us, on whom the ends of the ages have come. So if you think you are standing, watch out that you do not fall. No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.
Luke 13:1-9There were some present who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. He asked them, "Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were worse sinners than all other Galileans? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as they did. Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam fell on them--do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others living in Jerusalem? No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish just as they did." Then he told this parable: "A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came looking for fruit on it and found none. So he said to the gardener, 'See here! For three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and still I find none. Cut it down! Why should it be wasting the soil?' He replied, 'Sir, let it alone for one more year, until I dig around it and put manure on it. If it bears fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.'"
